韓国の5人組男性アイドルグループSS501（活動休止中）のパク・ジョンミン（23）が17日、都内で会見を開き、韓国の事務所・CNR MEDIAへの単独移籍及び日本で本格的なソロ活動を始めると発表した。ユーモアを交えた流暢な日本語で質疑応答に応じ、目標は「抱かれたい男1位、1回抱かれたら忘れられない男1位になること」と、およそ日本の男性アイドルからは想像できない熱い宣言が飛び出した。
ソロでは初めて記者会見に登壇したジョンミンは冒頭「今までこんなにテーブルが広いと思わなかった」と寂しさを口にしながらも、今後予定されている日本やアジアでのソロ活動展開に目を輝かせ、「いろんな僕を知ってください」と満面の笑顔でアピール。韓国語をマスターする秘訣を「韓国の人を好きになったら覚えやすいと思う。それが僕だったら“うれちい”」と即答するなど、会場は終始、笑いの渦に包まれていた。
同日より日本公式ファンクラブと日本公式サイトも開設され、11月にはミュージカル『絆～少年よ大紙を抱け』（11月18日～23日 東京・新国立劇場）に出演が決定。12月22日にNHK大阪ホール、23日に東京・JCBホールで1stファンミーティングの開催も決まり、日本側のマネジメントを担当するヤマハエーアンドアールの隅井淳一社長は、ソロCDのリリース予定があることも明かした。
